Most High schools require students to complete Community Working Hours in order to fulfill their grade curriculum. The Jessica June Children’s Cancer Foundation would like for students to complete their Community Working Hours by helping the foundation accomplish its mission. There are various projects students can chose from. For example: Organize a Raffle: Students pursuing this project are given a format letter from the foundation, so they can approach businesses in the community, and receive donated items or services for the raffle. Students approach business owners to get the donated items, and they organize the selling of the tickets, and keeping track of the proceeds received. Once the raffle is concluded, they will have completed their Community Working Hours, and will have gained so much more. From this experience they will learn how to sell an idea to multiple types of people, how to organize a raffle event, and most important: how they can make a difference in the lives of the less fortunate. Other project ideas: Making and selling jewelry Ideas are limitless. *We recommend working with a group of friends on each given project. This allows students to divide project responsibilities, and have fun doing the work as a team |
